Talking to a friend and proffesional player. This guy had at least 2 huge wins last year to make the Televised Event Finals. I have watched him play with Espandari and Laak. He took 1st in a major for 100k and 6th in the next for 20k plus......
This tournement was a championship for CPT points leaders, small field with 500k prize pool.....
Came 13 in the CPT finals. Razed with A10clubs under the gun. Guy called in middle. Flop jj6 2 clubs. Bet pot on the flop. Guy took a looong time then called. Turn a Q. Went all in. Guy took more time and called with almost all his chips. He had 99. Blank on the river. Then Came 2nd in the WPS $2650 2 day event. Went out with pair of tens preflop. The guy had A7 off. who ever wins the hand wins the tourny. Ace flops. Paid 24k for 2nd. Ask yourself if you can make the guy lay down his hand.
Does it seem that far off the game we play here??????
Are the $$$$ big enough to say that neither would take risks if money were involved???
Thought I'd share.
I want to break this hand down and tell you what I believe each player was thinking..........I like it when SCKenny does this, want to take a stab at it. Part 2 in 2 hours........

Decent starting hands but not great. 2 great players playing though....... Here is what I think they were thinking.
My bud raises Early position with A 10 clubs. What does he know? Heres what I think........
1) There are 13 players left in a televised event. Most players benchmark final table, this essentially a bubble pressure situation. 2) His hand stands to be better than two random blind hands and the A 10 is stronger being short handed. 3) He usually has a tight table image and raising in early has got to be respected. 4) He knows it takes a better hand to call a raise than make one (gap concept)
He gets called by guy in mid. 1) Guy knows he is shorthanded, his 99 stands to be a good hand here, but not good enough to reraise. 2)He knows he will have position if nobody enters the pot from late. 3) He knows 66% that bud will be raising with a hand that needs to hit.
Bud now knows that his opponent has a hand good enough to call with but not reraise.
Flop comes down JJ2 two clubs. Bud c-bets pot.
1) HE knows his oponent will not have hit 66% of the time. An over pair or J will probabbly come out of the weeds here. 2) Alot of players will fold to this board. If he is holding small pockets or missed a big Ace. 3) He knows what type of player his opponent has represented. 4) He can safely quess at least 12 outs or 48% chance to improve. At least one of his cards should be live and he has the Ace high flush draw. IF he is not reraised here. 5) His opponent tanks and he can put him on a made but not killer hand. He can assume both his cards are live, with the ecception of a few slow played monsters. 6) He needs to sell the story he started preflop and his opponent is clearly trying to read it.
Guy knows: 1) his opponent will c-bet here based on how he thinks his opponent percieves him. 2) Most of the time he will be good on this board shorthanded. He knows Bud would probabbly try for the check raise holding a Jack or over pair.
The queen turns and Bud now knows: 1) HE has 8 outs to the flush, one will make his opponent a boat. 2) His ace and ten are probabbly live, giving 6 more. 3) The queen is good for 4 (king) more outs to the straight or the counterfit. making maybe 7 more. 21 outs in the best case or 42% 4) His opponent likes but not loves his hand. Bud pushes to take away the chance from his opponent, a) he knows he has good outs b) this is a fold equity situation. 5) His opponent will be done if he is wrong. The pressure is applyied to give his opponent another reason to fold.
Guy has his reasons and calls. Bud is railed.
At first glance the hands seem loose to tight passive or tight aggresive players. All the fundementals are here, the starting hands weren't played by the book, but it did end up being some proffesional play.
